One would come to find that upon meeting Ben that he is very sarcastic and much of a smart-ass. He thinks of his intelligence as a means to correct others, but doesn't correct unless he feels the need to either be superior to said person or because he is annoyed by their stupidity. When something happens that he thinks is humorous he smiles, but rarely every laughs; of course, he is laughing on the inside. He unknowingly carries a cold heart, not taking notice of any emotions of others hardly except those whom he has known for quite a while. Ben tends to be quite observant and can read people easily thanks to his experience with his aunt and uncle's many visitors. When he is being nice, he asks questions mostly of concern. He tries his best to be friendly, but it can come off very scary or rude when he does try and is very commonly misunderstood by those other than his brother, Isaac. | RELATIONSHIPS ✶ Stranger ✷ Acquaintance ✳ Befriended ✲ Trusts ✧ Loyal to ✦ Respects ⚈ Curious (non-romantic) ⚆ Interested (non-romantic) ⚉ Devoted (non-romantic) ♩Shy ♪ Uneasy ♫ Fearful ❊ Annoyed ✺ Dislikes ❇ Loathes ❦ Attracted To ❢ Interested (romantically) ❣ Infatuation (romantically) ★ Love (romantically) ☆ Affection ❂ Sexual Attraction ❀ Lust Finn (✷,⚈)- "You better not be plotting anything, Little Leprechaun." HISTORY Ben grew up in a nice apartment with his 4 siblings. It was pretty tough being the second to youngest of the offspring, but he managed fine. Just like all of them did. His mother was a stay at home Mom, her gentleness and kindness spread throughout the entire house when she was there; and when their father was gone. He spent every week day of his young childhood going to school and doing his chores as he was told. Getting around the apartment proved to be difficult and entertainment was becoming harder to come by without having to buy some form of electronic. Eventually, he found an interest in books and he never looked back for a second. If he wasn't talking his nose was buried in a book, and although he did love reading he found himself socializing more and more as he got older. A happy child would come home to more happy people. His father wasn't always around, but it wasn't like he had left them. He would always be on business trips and support the family as much as he could; however, he didn't ever get to know his family. His relationship with his siblings became very difficult for him to handle when his brothers and sister hit a rebellious stage all at once whenever they were becoming aware of their father's absence more and more. Every day he would have come home and played with them outside, but his siblings ended up either locking themselves in their room or not coming home at all until late at night. His mother had told him it was just a phase that teenagers went through, so he believed her. One by one his siblings grew older, a couple already past their teen years and still acting the same way. As Ben became more worried he pushed himself more to them during school, trying to spend as much time with them as possible. Regrettably, his siblings didn't appreciate his clinginess and told him various times to shut up and go help their mother. He did as he was instructed by his siblings, his spark now fading as he began to get quieter and quieter, keeping his thoughts to himself. His relationship with his mother was a very precious one to him, but he was also close with his younger sibling, Isaac. Things were unchanging for him until he hit age 11, on February 18th. It was his birthday and he had invited all the kids from his class. His siblings even agreed to play kickball with him at his party. As the guests began to show he noticed that his mother was not around. A curious boy wondered around the house, calling for his mother. A strong metallic stench hit his nostrils as he grew closer to the sliding door that led to the backyard. His shaking hand reached to open it, but stopped when he heard screeching tires take off from in front of their house, most likely driving away. He still investigated further, opening the sliding door as he followed a crimson trail to around the corner of their house. What he found was his mother, bleeding to death with a knife injected through her abdomen, gasping for breath as she tried to instruct her son to call 911. However, all he did was stand there, too shocked to move. And he stood there. And stood there, his mother now crying before him and trying to get him to call for help. It was on that day and at that moment that his mother bled out right before him, and he did nothing about it. Their father was convicted of murder a month later and sentenced to a death trial. Yet again, his siblings left him. One by one they all went their own ways, leaving him and his younger brother to fend for themselves at a mere 11 and 9 years of age. He didn't leave his sibling, but cared for him. They were both collected by child services and sent to live with their aunt and uncle in California. Ben seemed rather apathetic to all that happened to him; it appeared as though he had nothing to say anymore. One day, he was out in the forest, reading. He was glad that his aunt and uncle had permitted to do this alone, because he wouldn't be sane without this time. The smell of smoke brought him to get up and peer around, looking for the origin. Ben then heard screaming and crying, fire crackling in the distance. He immediately dropped his book and made his way to the burning house. He could see two children through the window of the second floor, and two adults trying to make their way upstairs to retrieve their children. Only half of the house was burned, but it was quickly consuming the rest of the house. He decided on getting the children first, climbing a nearby tree and crashing through one of the windows that resided on the side of the building. The smoke filled his lungs upon impact, causing his chest to heave and his eyes to burn. It was at this point that he noticed a flame jumping out from behind him, quickly snatching the back of his shirt and tearing against his flesh. He cried out in agony, knowing that this was the most pain he had ever been in. Quickly, he put the fire out and hastily made his way to the crying children, finding that there were actually three rather than two. He escaped with two, not having enough strength to carry three at once. He knew he had enough time to run back; and he did. He grabbed the last child and placed them a safe distance away from the house, his vision now blurry. His head became clouded as he began to lose consciousness. But he hadn't helped the parents yet. Before he knew it, he had blacked out, the children now crying more as he faded away. A few days later he woke up in a hospital, his aunt and uncle and brother at his bedside. His burn had already begun to scar, and he knew that his lungs would never be the same form the amount of smoke he inhaled. He never saw the children again, but he was informed that they were safe. He had saved someone from death and that was enough to redeem a small piece of his heart. As he grew older and found more interests he developed a love for his brother more, deciding that he should protect him and be there for him more than he had been. Ben ended up leaning on the more intelligent scale while his brother leaned on the athletic scale. Learning came naturally to him and he absorbed a lot of information. However, when the time came for him to have an opportunity at college he declined it because his brother had not been invited to any colleges and they did not have the funds to send him. Now, he resides in Los Angeles as a bartender until he can help save up enough money to send his brother to college. | MOTHER'S NAME AMANDA GRACE JOHNSON SISTER'S NAME EMILY GRACE QUINTIN BROTHER'S NAME ISAAC RICHARD QUINTIN BROTHER'S NAME JOHN JACOB QUINTIN BROTHER'S NAME DUSTIN PHILLIP QUINTIN |
